The bug that kissed me goodnight…
Now I know who’s the little guy who knocked me out! It’s the kissing bug! I kept on thinking what’s this bug’s name is. I saw this bug right after I woke up that unfortunate night and I flat it out using my sandal and blood splattered out on the wall. I also wrote an article about this a month before regarding a bug with a killer punch!
I repeatedly described it to my friends and relatives but they don’t know its name until I came across one article today that mentioned it and alas! I searched it in Wikipedia and this one hell of a bug is known as the kissing bug! yeah its right and the name really described it well. It will suck the living blood in you when your asleep and you’ll never noticed it until you wake up and you’ll felt itchy because like mosquito, you’ll never know your bitten until you feel the itch.
And from what I’ve researched, the infection caused my eyelid to swell like a golf ball, together with my left hand and several parts of my body.
Fortunately, I didn’t experience the disease that is exclusively on Central and South Americans, which is the Chagas Disease that this bug from hell brought. It swept havoc in several Central and South American countries and caused so many fatalities by the simple bite that caused infection. But it will not hurt me if I look for treatment in case.
Well, I just hope that it’s the last time that I’ll encounter this little fella.
a bug with a killer punch story
And the story of the bug goes.
There is nothing more to say than it’s more than meets the eye. No I’m not quoting this famous line from the “Transformers”. This is not an article for the blockbuster movie. I like it; actually, I really love this movie and not just the movie but the Transformers itself. It’s really fun reminiscing one’s childhood memories of toys and cartoons; and Transformers are my favorite. I do have a few Transformers toys myself. Now, my significant other is the only one who knows that I’m still craving to get another one. Maybe I haven’t grown old of these things.
I remembered Transformers because of Bumble Bee and because it will be showing right this date and because the name itself is for a bug and it’s about the bug that I wrote this article.
So much for the introduction, this is just about the wicked insect bites that I got on Father’s day night in Sunday. I was sleeping on a room that was just vacated and made sure that it was cleaned before I slept on it. And it’s what I thought.
I suddenly woke up scratching the hell up on my eyes, arms, chest, back and almost 80 percent of my body. I stand up to see in the mirror what happened and to my horror I could not recognize myself in the mirror! It seemed that I’m been stung by swarms of bees on my arms and body and my eyes were swollen and it engulfed half of my cheek like I’ve been into the boxing ring and losing to a world champion!
So to my rage, I tried to find the culprit in the room, and to my amazement, I only found a little black cockroach-like bug. The body is diamond-shaped and I saw it before. I didn’t see it fly but somewhat jumped sometimes.
I knocked out the poor bug into bits and pieces and now I’m trying to check what this bug’s name is. No, not a proper name but its scientific name and check how a small bug can wreck havoc in a human body. I know many insects or organisms can make something worse than this, but for the life of me, I am checking on it for 2 days already.
I went to the hospital that same afternoon to get a checkup and I was checked by an ophthalmologist because no internal medicine doctor was available. Well, it’s nothing worse than little bug bites, it’s just that its venom or toxin was really potent that I initially developed allergy according to the doctor.
This bug actually helped me because it gave the leeway to get the leave that I need in my hellish work. The doctor advised me to get at least a week of leave but I just said that I just needed 2 days for this to subside. And thank God the eye of the boxer was now healed.
is this a flu case?
colds, dry cough, swollen throat, fever, chills…what more can describe what I’m feeling now. If this is not flu, then what is it?
This feeling started last Monday, and it just started out as a sneeze. frequent sneeze to be exact. Then, I went to office to work, and suddenly, my throat hurts like hell, feels like a burning sensation..much like sandpaper was scratching inside of it. I shrugged it off, because I know for myself that my resistance was strong.
And now came Tuesday evening after I woke up, I didn’t felt much better. The colds was worse, my throat was really swollen and I couldn’t even speak. I tried my best calling out my supervisor to advise him that I cannot report to work because of my voice, and he advice me to come to the office and go to our clinic to be checked by our nurse.
I tried calling other supervisor to notify of my condition, and indeed, my prayers was answered. The other supervisor advised me to not go to the office and took a time off. It was a relief!
I tried taking some medicines for the cough, because I initially thought that this was a mere case of dry cough. That worked so far when I woke up the other day and I reported to work.
I went to our clinic to ask for some advice and medicine because I was chilling…and our nurse got the nerve to just say to me to double up my jacket without checking my temperature! What the f*ck!
If I only was rude, I would have shouted my lungs out to her that I am already not feeling well, and all she could offer was for me to wear another jacket! I don’t know where our company got this kind of medical staff to treat their hardworking employees.
Come Thursday after shift, the colds was really worse. Both of my nostrils was swamped and I can’t even breath. I am now taking medicines for the cough and colds. These didn’t helped actually, my voice were not in good condition, but instead of calling again my supervisor, I reported to work, because I know, deep inside my head that I will receive the same response from him.
I went to the office, and advised him of my condition and I went straight down to our clinic to have a checkup. Our nurse gave me some medicines for my throat, colds and cough. She also tried taking my temperature, and to my amazement, my temp only got 36 degrees, short of a measly 1 degree for it to be considered fever! I’m chilling inside and still my temperature didn’t showed it…well, I got one hell of a body resistance here hahaha!
So now, here I am, blogging my sickly experience here in front of computer, still staying in our office because my supervisor cannot let me go home and he is still thinking of what other work he wanted me to try because I cannot do what I’m supposed to do today…take calls…maybe he wanted me to just make him coffee just to be productive for Christ’s sake!
Health is Wealth
The title of this post is so true.
“Health is wealth”. This old saying is really valid for all age and generations. Good health is the key to a happy life. Man thinks that they are strong from their birth. They don’t need any suggestion or comment regarding their health. They are wrong by thinking so. If a man suffers from any disease it also affects its partner or family members. In a fast and demanding life, health unfortunately takes a backseat whereas it should be of prime concern. There are various conditions which a person can not discuss with anybody.
Health is affected by many factors in our daily lives. Health is more dependent on the distribution of wealth than it is on personal lifestyle choices.
Families in the lower class have a higher likelihood of sicknesses and disease, which is clearly a main health issue throughout life.
The upper class family has the financial resources for a favorable position in the health care hierarchy of our medical care system, thus allowing a longer life span than those not so privileged. They also have the means to cover themselves with health and life insurances.
Now people are getting more conscious about there health and they now seek help from doctors or through net. Those people who are lazy and shy disclose there problems in various discussion forums.
