6 Steps for an Effective Call-To-Action
All successful Internet marketers surely know how to properly implement a strong call-to-action technique. However, so many business owners and marketers still fail in this aspect. It is one of the most important techniques one should learn early to convert potential customers into a sale.
The objective of any website in Internet Marketing is to entice the visitor to stay longer to check what the site offers. If you are selling products or services, you ultimately want your every visitor to look around your site on what they are looking for. Through On-Page Optimization and Off-Page Optimization, together with researching for positive and negative keywords, efficient link building and targeting a specific audience will produce visitors mainly from organic traffic and combining it with a good page layout will effectively make the visitor to stay and read more and be interested to register or buy or whatever goal you set your website should achieve.
A call-to-action or CTA is the next step in retaining the customer. Once your website catches the attention of would-be buyers, your intention is to keep the visitor interested by clicking a button or link which calls a specific page where it should provide additional information or a teaser and then to sign up or purchase. Whereas, the Click-Through-Rate or CTR is a measure on how successful your conversion of visitor to customer through clicking the button or link that represent an advertisement. It is measured by the number of impressions or the times that the webpage displays to a visitor to the number of times a visitor clicks the call-to-action button.
Many webmasters are lured to just putting a link that merely says “Click Here”. This is really not providing enough sense to a customer unless there is supporting information why he or she should click that button. Please do not use the words “Click Here” or any other words that is nonsense to your visitor. First it does not teach the visitor on why they need to click it and what they are expecting after clicking. Instead you can put words that explain their expectation like “Learn More”.
Putting just the words “Buy Now” is a strong call-to-action and should have a phrase or a paragraph that assist it to explain why the visitor should decide immediately unless he or she is extremely convinced. The visitor should be able to at least have the opportunity to check the page for its content that describes the product, get some useful information to see why he or she needs the product and also the price which is very important and why this item is much better than its competitors. Then after providing this, the next call-to-action to the buying process should present itself and it should not be hard for the customer to complete this process. No one wants to be confused with so many things and many required actions. You and I obviously wanted everything to be simple and not think too much when browsing.
The techniques below are proven to effectively retain visitors and have a successful CTR:
1. Have a Sense of Urgency
Active words such as Buy, Register, Sign Up, and Subscribe are ineffective if there is no sense of urgency why they should click that. You can try to add these kinds of phrases with the active words:
• Offer until the end of December
• Limited Offer Only
• Buy now and you will receive a gift
• 20 percent discount when you buy today only
2. Provide some Extras
There are marketing styles where you can give in order to gain. It is not all about getting a sale. You can provide freebies to customers that will buy 2 or more items or if they will register or reserve ahead of time.
3. Position it correctly
As much as proper words are chosen to lure visitor to click, the placement of the link is significant also. Ideally, it should be placed where the customer do not need to scroll down or look for in the webpage. It should place high enough in the fold and at least in the center to draw attention.
4. White Space is Important
Now, you have already a good position for the button or link, the next thing that you should implement is to put it in a place where it seems to float in the page. There should not be any clutter or distracting words near it and at least make it bigger than the normal link or button so that visitor will surely notice it among others.
5. Colors that contrast
Of course you want your website to have a central theme. The colors of the text should blend well with the other categories. But having a contrasting color of your call-to-action button or text is really important to draw the attention. Now, it is position high enough and space is all around it, it would be great that the color is different from the rest so that the visitor will be enticed to click it.
6. Do not make it too confusing
There should not be other words that are created equally in size, color or type of button aside from the call-to-action button. Do not make the visitors click and then go to endless loop into buying. There is too much information that a visitor can handle before getting exhausted. A click or two before going to the exact page where the sale should be made is enough so as to not lose the potential customer. The conversion rate will be high if this is the case.
One last thing, it is also one good practice to get customer information for lead generation. You never know when that customer can generate more potential sales through their own contact and also you can provide updates and new information on new products or services. Providing latest information and promotions through email marketing is a good way of advertising to your existing customer. Click-Through-Rate will be high and your marketing campaign will be successful if you implement these steps. Hopefully the styles above will help in your marketing campaign.
Organic Traffic is Best for Advertisement Based Websites
Too many websites offer information on how to make money online. These sites will only discuss on how to optimize your website and teach how to generate traffic. If you really intended to make money in your website and you signed up with affiliate programs, then your first goal is to do On Page Optimization to setup your site appealing to both the visitors and the search engines. You need to have organic traffic, meaning when someone searches something that they want to know or buy, people will type that in the search engine and results will appear with a listing of websites that is relevant to the keyword or keywords.
Targeted advertising is the best form of making money online. When you follow the different On Page Optimization techniques, chances are the keywords is truly relevant to the content and this will be appreciated by search engines and therefore can make your webpage more visible. So, when a person searches on “make money online fast” and the content in your webpage has that exact keywords and among the other websites that appeared, yours is chosen, advertisements will surely show up in your site and there is a big chance that the visitor might click on one of this if it appeals to him. Organic search results helped the publisher, the advertisers, and the visitors.
The goal of the visitor is fulfilled by searching and landing to your page that provides the right information with right recommendation from the advertisers. The chance of making money in that instance is big. If the visitor clicks the advertisement, then you will get a certain percentage of payment, and if that same visitor buys a product or service from that same advertiser, then the payout is much bigger!
However, if the traffic is driven from social networks, it is not a solid goal of that person to land on your website, he may just be trying to look into your account profile or just trying to search for several articles that interest him. But I am not telling that social networking is not good, it is just not really targeted, and the ratio of CTR or Click-Through Rate is not high enough to at least getting some money out of it.
Targeted traffic in search engines equals money in the online world. And this is one guide that one needs to understand truly before venturing in creating websites and hoping that earning money is easy as one, two, three.
