Pacquiao completely dominated Margarito
His speed clearly made up for what is lacking in height and weight. His more than excellent performance is shown from the start. Manny Pacquiao completely dominated Antonio Margarito on their title fight for the WBC Super Welterweight at the Cowboys Stadium, Texas U.S.A. this Saturday evening, November 13, 2010.
After the weigh in, Pacman’s weight is a mere 144.6 pounds compared to the Tijuana Tornado’s 150 pounds. His reach also exceeds Pacquiao’s as well as his enormous height. As soon as the fight started, you will see the difference in their physique, but do not be fooled by that, the speed and accuracy plus the techniques that Pacquiao showed in the fight explained how rigorous his trainings were.
The punches are like lightning bolts that continually pounce the helpless face of the former three-time welterweight champion. Margarito really took a beating round after round. His right eye is so swollen the referee could have stopped the fight early on but did not. Pacquiao’s combinations are landing through and his footwork is a clear sign that he is indeed prepared for this duel.
Margarito in fairness kept on trying to throw in lots of strong punches in exchange for Pacquiao’s heavy artillery. He manages to put Pacquiao across the edges of the ring most of the time, but Manny knew how to get away in being cornered. And that is one of his tactics to keep going.
All of us are hoping for a knockout because of what seems to be a clear victory for our Pambansang Kamao, but Antonio still hangs on until the 12 round and his determination and heart shows his character as a true fighter. Quitting is not in the vocabulary of this fantastic fighter and we salute you for a good fight that you shown us!
Manny Pacquiao won every round from 119-109, 120-108 and 118-110.
Pacman is truly a world-class boxer of our time! Mabuhay ka Manny Pacquiao!
Let’s get ready to Rumble!!!
The much awaited boxing match of the year between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Oscar “Golden Boy” De La Hoya will take stage this Saturday, December 6, 2008 (December 7, 2008 Sunday in Manila, Philippines) at the MGM Grand Las Vegas, Nevada U.S.
$100 Million is at stake at this welterweight bout and promises to be an explosive one since it has been announced months before and the whole Philippines’ boxing aficionados are really waiting to watch this fight.
Men, women, young and old are waiting for this event as Manny Pacquiao, considered as “Pambansang Kamao” or national punch or fist as I should say will test his boxing skill with the boxing veteran De La Hoya.
Many are skeptical and said that the fight is not that fair since De La Hoya has the height and reach advantage, plus the fact that they are from a different weight division. De La Hoya, who is 5’10″ is taller by 4 inches and has a 6 inches advantage over Pacquiao. The advantage that many think is the age of the two boxers. Pacquiao is six younger at 29 and usually, age does matter in boxing in terms of agility and other criteria.
It is said that this will be the Golden Boy’s farewell fight and the biggest fight for Pacman. The division difference will have Pacquiao stack up until he reaches the 66.5 kilograms or 147 pounds needed and De La Hoya will sacrifice until he dropped to that weight.
Every Filipino is excited for this fight and everyone is hoping that our own will come out victorious in this bout!
